Respecting self
As well as accepting the need to unlearn much of what you have come to believe, it is time to begin paying attention to the way you treat your body on a daily basis. You draw energy from solid food and liquid that you put into your body, that is the purpose of doing it. If you are currently padding out on indulgencies with food or 'making do' on snatched meals and junk food, make no mistake, there will be a price to pay sooner or later.

Try asking yourself why you do what you do, are you idly responding to clever marketing, saying 'well, everybody does it' or 'it's normal' or are you making genuine value based judgements regarding your actions. Just as an example; you may be using a water filter because you have been told it makes water purer and is better for you. Away from the clever marketing a clearer picture emerges: Heart disease in Scotland is the worst in the world, we are told it is due to the eating habits of the Scots. Careful research has shown that the reason for the heart disease is that most water consumed there, mainly runs over rocky ground and as a result doesn't pick up essential elements from the ground. These elements are vital for the heart muscle to regenerate, due to this lacking, heart disease occurs more readily.
The lesson here is do not use a water filter

The food we eat gives essential elements in varying forms, providing we eat a variety of food types. Your body is never resting, it is alive, actively performing constantly and naturally to achieve a way of being, the label for this remarkable way of being is 'Homeostasis', explained as;  'The ability or tendency of an organism or cell to maintain internal equilibrium by adjusting its physiological processes'.
So in essence it is doing a balancing act.

Your body needs all the help it can get so, are you giving it good wholesome fresh food or are you 'getting in your own way' by loading it with constant challenges that undermine your natural ability to fend off occasional intrusions of an unwelcome nature. If your bodily system is consistently dealing with overload, is it reasonable to expect the best performance?
I am sure you may know these things, but do you understand these things. Have you become in a way detached from your body, discussing or thinking about it as being a collection of pieces working separately rather than it being one whole being. For you, your body is the most valuable thing in the world, it is unique, there is no other like it in existence, actually it is priceless. This is so for everyone and yet, most people pay more attention to their car or give more thought to planning a weeks holiday than they do to their body, that one singular irreplaceable item in anyone's life.
